Mangshir

Mangsir or Mangshir or मंसिर or मार्गशीर्ष is a eighth month of Nepali Calendar which lies between second half of November and first half of December month. People celebrate Chaath parba in this month if Chaath does not lie in the Kartik month. Chaath parba is mostly celebrated by Terai people. Festival like Dhanya purnima, Urdhyauli Parba are likely to lie in this month. Mangshir month consists of either 29 or 30 days. This month lies in the Pre-winter season or Hemanta Ritu in Nepali. The weather is cold in Mangsir. There is very low to no rainfall in this month in Nepal. In this month people are busy in harvesting popular food crop rice and cash crop potato in Nepal.
